OASIS

OASIS at St. John/St. Paul Lutheran Church is an outreach program for Akron urban youth. It began in August 2006, has 501 C (3) status, and currently enrolls 75 youth. OASIS stands for:

Open to all
Accepting of all
Safe haven and shelter
Instruction in the word and grace of Jesus Christ
Surrender to Christ

OASIS fosters acceptable social behaviors and increased success in formal and personal learning through educational tutoring, spiritual mentoring, the arts, emotional and mental health support. Faith Lutheran Church is "adopting" youth who are in the program and will be providing prayer and financial support for their spiritual, education and physical needs. Money raised in the 2010 "More Than Enough" giving projects was used for that purpose.
