What Would YOU Do?

What Would YOU Do?

At a recent Bishop’s Gathering, the question was posed:  “What would you do if a coworker shared a serious struggle they were having?”  Would most of us be able to give a faithful and supportive answer?   Would we look for the nearest escape door?  How might we help?

The answer is easy and you can always be prepared!  Simply think of a sentence or two that shares how God has helped you in challenging times.  So for instance, I might say,  “I can’t know how you feel but I can tell you that when my husband suddenly died, it was my faith that God stayed with me that helped me get through it.”   Or   “You must be feeling frustrated (or scared or fill in the blank) but I can tell you God has promised not to abandon us no matter what!”

Such answers open the door to more dialogue and really do offer a word of comfort and hope.   So what are you waiting for?   Make sure you have an answer when someone shares a concern with you.  After all, everyone who has been baptized is a “priest” and can serve to bring light to a dark world.   May God’s light shine on you and yours.
