start where you are

How many times have we decided to wait?   We'll wait to get new clothes when we lose 15 pounds, we'll wait to take a cruise when the house is paid off, we'll try something bold and daring as soon as we have assurance that it will be successful.    Sound familiar?

Life in the church is seldom like that.  Jesus said,  (and I paraphrase)    Feed my sheep.   Care for widows and orphans.  Go and make disciples.   Jesus never said build a church, form a committee, create your own agenda.   And even more interesting, the Greek verb tense for the commands jesus did give meant "do it and keep on doing it."   It wasn't a one-time deal.   Jesus gives us a clear outline of what we should be about.  We should be about caring for others.  Not just others that look like us or dress like we do....others.

There are a lot of needs out in the world and we must choose some and get going on following Jesus.   So, what should it be?  How should we proceed?  Who wants to help?    I hope you will attend the brainstorming forums and share your ideas.   And then, let's not wait...let's get going!
